| Abstract | Chuvas intensas, em torno de 175 milímetros, ocorreram entre os dias 8 e 9 de abril de 2006 e causaram deslizamento e alagamento nas cidades de Ubatuba, Caraguatatuba e São Sebastião. Modelos operacionais e várias simulações com alta resolução, utilizando a condição inicial (CI) do NCEP, não conseguiram caracterizar este episódio, exceto, uma integração realizada com uma CI proveniente de uma perturbação utilizando o método de ensemble. O modelo Eta de alta resolução foi integrado utilizando como CI a análise do NCEP original (CNTR) e a perturbada (MEMBRO1). As diferenças entre essas CIs mostraram que a CI perturbada fornecia ao modelo condições mais favoráveis para instabilizar a região de ocorrência do episódio, tais como; aquecimento, umidade, intensidade e direção do vento. A simulação deste episódio com a CI perturbada mostrou melhorias na caracterização da circulação local contribuindo para a ocorrência da confluência e convergência em baixos níveis, e como conseqüência, movimentos ascendentes necessários para o desenvolvimento da convecção. Sliding and flooding occurred in Ubatuba, Caraguatatuba e São Sebastião, between 8th and 9th April 2006, due to intense rainfall over the region. Several simulations with a regional model at high resolution, using initial conditions from NCEP, were not able to represent this extreme episode. However, one integration, performed with an initial condition obtained from a perturbation technique, reproduced the intense rainfall over the region. Results of two integrations with the Eta regional model are compared: one (CNTR), using as initial condition the NCEP analysis, and another (MEMBER 1) from the perturbed condition. The differences between these two initial conditions showed that the condition obtained from the perturbation technique provided favorable conditions to the occurrence of heavy rain, such as heating, humidity, besides intensity and wind direction. The local circulation was also improved in the simulation with MEMBER 1, contributing to the confluence and convergence of winds at low levels, and then, ascent motion and convection development. |
